Marek Zidlicky is in the final year of his contract and the Ottawa Sun reports the veteran defenseman could sign a new three-year deal with Minnesota.
Zidlicky, who currently has a cap hit of $3.35 million, is expected to receive a raise, be it with the Wild or on the open market this July.
According to the Sun, several teams, including the Senators, have inquired about Zidlicky’s availability and if a new contract isn’t signed in the coming days, there’s a chance the Wild pulls the trigger on a trade.

Wild Focusing on Playoff Run
Chuck Fletcher said his phone has been busy as Wednesday’s NHL trade deadline draws closer, but there’s no guarantee those conversations will result in any deals.
“It’s hard to handicap,” the Wild general manager said.

The Wild will return from the Olympic break with a game at Calgary on Wednesday. With 21 games remaining, the team is in 13th place in [...]

Kiprusoff was replaced by the Wild’s own Niklas Backstrom who was subsequently beaten for two goals in four shots. Other Wild contributors for Finland included Antti Mienttinen who scored the Fins’ one and only goal. I hated to see Finland lose because of Mikko, Antti, and Niklas but I am not quite [...]
Glad to see Buck sign an extension.
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild have signed popular winger Cal Clutterbuck to a three-year extension.
The 22-year-old Clutterbuck would have become a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
He quickly became a fan favorite last season, when he set the NHL’s single-season hits mark with 356. He leads the league again this season.
Clutterbuck also has a career-high 12 goals in 54 games this year and has tied his career high with 18 points.
