Wild Make The Avalanche Slide Further, Backs Is Back
Now that my heart has jumped back out of my throat after the last 90 seconds of the game…more on that in a minute…I can write a happy article! In a battle that carried over into the Twitter-sphere, the Wild once again beat the Colorado Avalanche in Denver. This win was a huge one for the standings, as Colorado has been right on our tail in the conference. With the Wild getting 2 points and the Avs getting zilch, the Wild strengthened their hold on 8th place in the west. More points were given out by the boxing commission than [...]
Three Waeros Went Down, Three Waeros Came Up
Waeros. Players who bounce between the Wild and Aeros constantly…that should cover what, about 30 guys now? I see the Wild front office listened to me 100%. Kassian, Ortmeyer, and Rau are on their way back to Minnesota in time for tomorrow’s game against Nashville. Staubitz, Zidlicky, and Lundin are 3-game-in-a-row scratches. Trades, anyone? Nate Prosser didn’t get recalled because he never got sent back for roster requirement reasons. It worked out, actually…Prosser got some more time to recover from a nasty blocked shot. He’s back and skating, so I’d expect to see him against the Predators as well.
Looking Past The All-Star Break
I may be the only NHL fan that doesn’t really care about the All-Star Game. To be fair, I don’t care about any other league’s all-star matchup either. I care about games that mean something in the W/L department, and this break couldn’t have come at a worse point for the Wild…we were just getting our feet back under us. We start real hockey again on Tuesday when the Nashville Predators visit St. Paul. Coming off solid wins against Dallas and Colorado, it is CRUCIAL that the Wild keep the momentum going with a quick home victory. Looking at past [...]
Getting this up ASAP after the game for once, no pics yet but I’ll add when they become available. UPDATED: pic. We’re baaaaacccckkkkk! The Wild shook more rust off the machine tonight at the Pepsi Center, continuing their total control of that building and defeating the Avs 3-2. This means that we head into the All Star break in a playoff spot…granted, by a mouse’s whisker. After a slower start that saw Backstrom give up two ugly goals (ugly as in he-should-have-stopped-those), the Wild totally controlled the second half of what was a very physical game. Wild goals by Falk [...]
Wild are the faster draw, win Shootout.
In Mikko Koivu’s first game as the official permanent captain of the Wild he lead the team to their two goals and shootout victory. In the first period it was Koivu’sshot that produced a nice rebound for Burns to flip it home. In the 3rd period scored a goal and another power play chance and then had the winning goal in the shootout as well. I guess it’s only fitting that he dominated the first game as Captain. The Avalanche gave the Wild an 10 minutes of one man advantage time and the Wild scored PPGs #9 & #10 (that’s the [...]
It’s Avs night
Tonight should be an interesting night for more than one reason: #1- It’s the firest Wild home game in quite some time. #2- They are wearing their “Miller High Life” Jersey’s tonight. #3 – Chuck Kobasew should make his Wild debut. #4- It’s Koivu’s first game with the “C”. That’s the good stuff. The bad stuff is that Colorado comes into the game with the 3rd largest margin of victory in the league and they are healthy. The Avs have been outstanding on both sides of the ice this year scoring 28 goals while only giving up 18. I think [...]
