Minnesota Wild: Kyle Rau on fire for Iowa Wild and worthy of a call-up?

The Minnesota Wild may have been bettered by the Buffalo Sabres, but their affiliate, the Iowa Wild notched a third straight win, with Kyle Rau playing a decent role in their recent results.
In the past two games for the Iowa Wild, Kyle Rau has clearly sought to turn heads in the Minnesota Wild front office. He has tallied five points in two games, a record as good as anyone in the AHL over the past weekend.
A two-goal, three-point night against Milwaukee was backed up with a one goal, one assist night against the Chicago Wolves. It brings his season totals to 14 points in 16 games; a level that certainly deserves at least a little bit of consideration from Minnesota Wild General Manager, Paul Fenton. Especially given the team is carrying an empty roster spot.
The question becomes, who do you drop from the current Minnesota Wild starting roster to make room for an Iowa Wild upstart?
You don’t want to be dropping one of your veteran presences for fear of upsetting the locker-room, but equally why would you give away one of the younger guys’ spots, unless of course they need a lesson taught.

Kyle Rau unfortunately finds himself in the purgatory that is producing near point-per-game for the Iowa Wild in the AHL, but lacking opportunity to crack the Minnesota line-up. It’s a place that teammate Cal O’Reilly knows only too well.
What Rau can do though is maintain his form and really force the issue. The Minnesota Wild have had limited injuries this year so far, but at some point are bound to suffer from a little bad luck on that front.
That will be when Kyle Rau needs to be ready to seize the day.

In the meantime, I hope he can keep lighting it up in the AHL; it’s never a bad thing to have talent that you’d trust to step onto your main roster. Maybe, just maybe; given half the chance there’s an NHL player waiting to blossom.
