Three Prospects Who Should Play In Minnesota Next Season
At some point or another, minor league hockey players become too good to play in the minor leagues as could be the case for a few players who have been with the Iowa Wild this season. With this, we will discuss three prospects that we could see with the Minnesota Wild next season.
Marco Rossi
Ahhh, yes.
The guy Wild general manager Bill Guerin selected ninth overall in the 2020 Entry Draft Marco Rossi, who some have tabbed as the Wild’s future No. 1 center had to sit out an entire season due to health reasons.
He has had an unbelievably strong first season with the Iowa Wild, scoring 18 goals and 35 assists and has also played two games this year with Minnesota. Rossi has shown that he can play and his compete level is there to be a full-time NHL player.
That is something that could possibly happen next season as it would be a situation where he could beat out someone for a final roster spot.
Connor Dewar could potentially find himself in a bottom six role next season with Minnesota. That is where we have seen him graduate to this season and he has done well in the roles that Wild coach Dean Evason has put him in.
Dewar has so far been a 50/50 split this season between Iowa and Minnesota scoring 17 points for Iowa in 19 games and registering two goals and six points with the big club this season in which one of those was his first in the NHL.
In my mind, Dewar adds a wildcard dimension to the Wild’s lineup that could be hard to play against and he also has one heck of a shot that I could hope we see more of going down the stretch.
This one will go down in infamy as the most broken record thing talked about prospect related with the Minnesota Wild.
In regards to Calen Addison however, his NHL potential is through the roof and he’s only getting over-cooked in Iowa. He is ready for the big stage and with some impending moves the Wild may look to make in the off-season.
Itcould almost be a guarantee that Addison will be with Minnesota full-time going forward and with not much in his way, an open spot on the backend would be his for the taking.
