Watch Every Jonas Brodin Goal from the 2013-14 Season

Jonas Brodin, in some ways, had a bit of a lateral movement in his second season. His possession numbers dropped off a bit, his P/60 dropped slightly from .63 the season before to .60 last season.

With his Quality of Competition staying exactly the same over the two seasons and the Quality of teammates dipping slowly, it’s not too tough to craft a story of how he failed to take a major step forward. It was his first full length season and he started out very strong, tapering off a bit through the season’s midpoint.

Another big change for Brodin was increased responsibility. He wasn’t just getting time with Ryan Suter, which put more responsibility on Brodin. In 2012-13 he spent 84.9% of his time on the ice with Suter. The defenseman he was out with the second most? Tom Gilbert, at just 3.6% of Brodin’s time on ice. This season, Brodin still spent the majority of his time with Suter, but it was only 61.9%, with Marco Scandella coming in second at 20.3%.

I think a lot of these slight dips in possession and production could be attributed to being forced into a larger role, a more important role than just working with Suter. Brodin was the defensive leader on the ice at times, instead of being protected by being on the ice with one of the top defenseman in the game.

Onward. Here’s every goal the young Swede scored during the 2013-14 season.

10/03/13 vs. Los Angeles

LAK 3 – MIN 2 (SO)

Brodin scored in the season-opener on a beautiful one-timer from

Nino Niederreiter

in Niederreiter’s first game in a Wild Sweater.

#2 —

10/10/13 vs. Winnipeg Jets

WPG 1 – MIN 2

Brodin gets his second of the year off the rebound, helping the Wild to their first win of the season.

#3 —

10/19/13 vs. Florida Panthers

MIN 1 FLA 2 (SO)

Brodin finished with eight goals on the year. He had three in the first nine games. Also, 2014

Mikael Granlund

would have never missed that shot off the Matt Dumba deflection. One of a hundred signs of how much Granlund’s game grew throughout the season.

#4 —

11/20/13 vs. Ottawa Senators

MIN 4 – OTT 3

#5 —

12/05/13 vs. Chicago Blackhawks

CHI 3 – MIN 4

#6 —

12/12/13 vs. San Jose Sharks

MIN 1 – SJS 3

#7 —

12/19/13 vs. New York Islanders

NYI 5 – MIN 4

Brodin tallies one during the team’s longest slump of the year — a six-game losing streak, but for the second straight game, four goals just isn’t enough for the Wild to take home a win.

#8 —

02/06/14 vs. Nashville Predators

NSH 2 – MIN 3 (OT)

A fantastic shot from Niederreiter for his final tally of the season.
