Wild to Host Breakaway Run Benefitting Wild Foundation This Fall

As you may have seen on social media recently, the Wild are set to host the inaugural Breakaway Run this fall. Taking place September 20th, 2014, the run will offer  10K, 5K, and 1 mile courses through beautiful downtown St. Paul, all beginning outside gate 1 of the Xcel Energy Center.

The 10K  course, starting at 8:30 a.m. takes runners along Kellogg Boulevard before turning on to Shepard Road and offering fantastic views of the Mississippi River before turning around and bringing runners back to the Xcel.

The 5K course, starting at 8:45 a.m. follows much of the same route. Runners will Follow Kellogg Boulevard to Jackson Street and on to Shepard Road, travelling west before turning around near the Science Museum of Minnesota and bringing runners back to the finish line.

Lastly, the 1 mile course begins at 8:35 a.m.  Taking runners down Kellogg Boulevard, the course will pass the RiverCenter, the Science Museum, and several of the stunning city parks.

All proceeds from the race will benefit the Minnesota Wild Foundation, the charity arm of our hometown hockey club. The Wild Foundation is committed to bettering the State of Hockey through generous donations to pediatric charities throughout the state. Donations include game used memorabilia to auctions, visits to local Children’s Hospitals, and monetary donations to youth hockey groups such as Defending the Blue Line.

The top three male and  female finishers on each course will receive great prizes courtesy of the Wild. The top male and female finisher from each race will win a pair of tickets to the Wild’s opening night match against the Colorado Avalanche, while the Top three finishers of each gender will win a team signed hockey stick.

The top three male and female Season Ticket Holders will also win prizes from the Wild. No participant will leave empty-handed, as all runners will earn a commemorative T-shirt and the chance to win a team signed hockey stick.
