Iowa Wild Schedule For 2014-15 Revealed

On Wednesday the American Hockey League unveiled the complete 2014-15 season schedule, including the Iowa Wild schedule.

The Wild will open the season on the road with a game against the San Antonio Rampage, followed the next night by a game against the 2014 Calder Cup Champion Texas Stars (their season opener), who boast a roster loaded with talent bound for the NHL.

Iowa will host the Milwaukee Admirals on October 17 for their home opener and will continue their opening weekend with a rematch of the Admirals on October 18.

With this summer’s AHL realignment, the Wild have moved to the West Division and will play their new divisional opponents eight times each. Their new division consists of the Texas Stars (Dallas Stars affiliate), Charlotte Checkers (Carolina Hurricanes affiliate), Oklahoma City Barons (Edmonton Oilers affiliate), and San Antonio Rampage (Florida Panthers affiliate). They will also play former division rivals the Milwaukee Admirals, Rockford Icehogs, and Chicago Wolves eight times apiece.

The Iowa Wild struggled in their first season in Des Moines, finishing last in the Western Conference with a record of 27-36-7-6 for 76 for a total of 67 points. However, the team has made many changes this offseason looking to revitalize the team and re-stock the Minnesota Wild’s prospect pool. Among the changes, the team decided not to re-sign Kyle Medvec, Tyler Cuma, Carson MacMillan, Josh Caron, and Brad Winchester.

New additions to the team, should they not be playing in St. Paul, will include defenseman Christian Folin, Mathew Dumba, Guillaume Gélinas, Stu Bickel, and Justin Falk. 2013 second round draft pick Gustav Olofsson will play his first full season in the AHL as well. On forward they’ve added Jordan Schroeder, Michael Keränen, Brett Sutter, Joel Rechlicz, and Cody Almond, with Kurtis Gabriel and Brady Brassart set to play their first full AHL season as well. It’s a new look team with exciting prospects and a lot of potential.
