Jason Zucker is one of the more electrifying young players in the Wild’s system. We have seen his speed, his potential, and his play-making ability, it remains to be seen if that will be enough to land him a roster spot at the beginning of the season.

Zucker has split time between Minnesota and Iowa the last two seasons. Last season, Zucker netted 4 goals and 1 assist in 21 games with the Wild and had 8 goals and 5 assists in 22 games with the Iowa Wild. In the 2012-2013 season, Zucker scored 24 goals and 26 assists in 55 games with the Iowa Wild and 4 goals and 1 assist with Minnesota.

Zucker’s most prominent moment in his short NHL career was game 3 against the Chicago Blackhawks where he was able to squeeze the puck by Corey Crawford in overtime, the only game the Wild would win in that series.

Zucker finds himself in a difficult situation with the Wild. A young talent with top-6 potential, he finds himself vying for a spot likely on the fourth line. Will Zucker be moved prior to the season, or during the season? Rumors have certainly been circulating, however, Russo reported that Zucker has been with his Wild teammates and other NHLers in the last couple weeks. Coming off a season-ending surgery to repair a tendon, Russo also reported that Jason Zucker is “100 percent ready to go back to normal.”

One thing is certain, he is exciting to watch, and his speed and play making ability can break the game right open. Jason Zucker is definitely a player that can be a huge asset for the Wild’s third or fourth line this season and can be an even bigger piece of injuries plague the Wild this season as they did last season.
