Ryan Garbutt to Miss Game Against Wild

As the Minnesota Wild get ready to take on the Dallas Stars for the third time this season, the Stars will be without forward Ryan Garbutt, who will be serving the first game of a two-game suspension on Friday.

Garbutt’s suspension was announced by the Department of Player Safety on Thursday for a knee-on-knee hit Garbutt delivered to Edmonton’s Taylor Hall on Tuesday. Garbutt’s suspension took into account the fact that he’s a repeat offender.

Through 19 games Garbutt has three goals and five assists. It’s not a huge 5-on-5 boost for the Stars, especially with one of those goals coming shorthanded. However, Dallas has been turning things around recently, riding a three-game winning streak into Friday’s game in Dallas. Garbutt has been providing a decent amount of offense over the last five games with two goals and 19 shots over that stretch.

With Dallas’ depth called into question through their early season struggles this season, Garbutt’s absence will be felt by Dallas.
