Carson McMillan, Justin Fontaine Sign Deals with Minnesota Wild

Mandatory Credit: Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY SportsAccording to the Star Tribune’s Michael Russo, restricted free agents Carson McMillan and Justin Fontaine have re-signed with the Minnesota Wild.

While neither signing is a surprise (or very expensive), it does add to the overall depth within the organization. McMillan is a very solid bottom six fill-in when needed and Fontaine is a guy with very little to prove in the AHL anymore. Fontaine may even surprise some people when September’s training camp comes around.

The final first round selection of the Doug Risebrough era, Tyler Cuma is also the one remaining restricted free agent yet to sign with the Wild this offseason. With promising youngsters like Jonathon Blum, Matt Dumba and fellow 2008 pick Marco Scandella standing a serious chance at claiming a spot in the Wild lineup, it appears the door is rapidly closing on the injury-prone Cuma. Only time will tell if he’s meant to wear the Red, White and Green.
