Mandatory Credit: Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY SportsIn a move that surprises no one, the Minnesota Wild have recalled goaltender Darcy Kuemper from Iowa of the American Hockey League.

Drafted 161st overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, the hulking 6’5″ 205-pound net minder has been impressive at every level of play he’s faced. The NHL was no exception when he notched a 1-2-0 record, 2.08 goals against average and ,916 save percentage in six regular season games. He was even better in the AHL, notching a 13-8-0 record, 1.88 goals against average and .934 save percentage with four shutouts in 21 regular season games with the Houston Aeros. Wearing sweater No. 35 with Minnesota, Kuemper will back up Harding tonight, and may even get a start or two next week.

Scott will have your game day preview up shortly. In the meantime, be sure to listen to my thoughts on the Wild’s season this morning from 10-12 on KCFS 94.5 FM in Sioux Falls, or live online here.
