The season is in full force, teams are off to great starts, other teams are still looking for the right lineups and missing pieces.
The Minnesota Wild appear to have all the right pieces in place, including the heavily analyzed goaltending spot. The season couldn’t be going better for Darcy Kuemper as he stopped all of the Avalanche’s 46 shots in the home-and-home series to start the season.
This accomplishment by Kuemper isn’t just impressive, it is also record-breaking. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Kuemper is the youngest goaltender in NHL history to post consecutive shutouts to open a season.
Darcy Kuemper signed a one-way, two-year contract worth 2.5 million dollars on September 19. Kuemper wants to prove that he can be a long-term solution in net for the Minnesota Wild, so far he is perfect.
The Wild, who are off until Friday, will visit former blueliner Clayton Stoner and forward Dany Heatley as they face off in Anaheim on Friday at 9 PM.
