Gustav Olofsson Out “Longer Term”
Wild defensive prospect Gustav Olofsson, who many thought was a darkhorse to make the Wild’s opening night roster, has been absent from the Iowa Wild roster in three of the team’s first four games.
Saturday night, Tom Witosky tweeted out that Iowa coach Kurt Kleinendorst said that Olofsson “is going to be longer term.” (Which I imagine translate into that he’s going to be out long-term.)
Also notable there is that Olofsson “had a procedure.” Whatever the injury is serious enough to need “a procedure” and that was past tense. It’s already happened, it seems.
That’s a big loss for Iowa, who has started the season 0-4. Olofsson should be one of the team’s top defenseman. That’s also a loss for Olofsson and for the Wild at large who will miss this development time and his presence in his first full AHL season.
It’s all a little vague right now, with Witosky noting that the team is “not providing details” but we’ll post more when we know about it.
In other Iowa injury news, Raphael Bussieres was hurt in a game over the weekend. No details on what his injury is or how long he could be out yet.
