Justin Falk has been called up from the Iowa Wild on Saturday, presumably with the intention of playing him against the physical St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
The Wild tend to favor some physicality when they face the Blues — you’ll recall Mike Rupp getting his first start in a very, very, very long time at the end of the season against the Blues last year. Rupp was suspended for a hit on T.J. Oshie in that game and didn’t play for the Wild again.
Falk has suited up for the Wild three times this season, averaging 8:29 per game with no points, two shots, and no penalty minutes. Falk has a goal and two assists in 16 games with the Iowa Wild this season.
After Mathew Dumba played just 4:10 last night against the Stars, expect to see both Dumba and Keith Ballard scratched and Falk in the third pairing with Nate Prosser.
