Iowa Wild prospect and current Alaska Aces forward Olivier Archambault has been named the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for the month of November 2014.
The 21-year-old forward tied for the lead among ECHL rookies in November scoring eight goals and adding six assists with a plus-9 rating in the month. He was a big part of the Aces turning around a slow start to the season and going 7-4-0 in November, riding a five-game winning streak into December.
Archambault may be familiar to Minnesota Wild fans from the summer when he skated on an amateur tryout with the team at the Traverse City Prospects Tournament. Following that he wasn’t invited to Minnesota Wild training camp, but did get an invite to Iowa Wild training camp, where he earned a two-way (AHL / ECHL) Standard Player Contract.
He was assigned to the Aces, where he’s been thriving in his rookie season. (It’s his rookie year, though he did log ten games with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL last season.)
Archambault was originally a fourth round draft pick for the Montreal Canadiens and finished up his junior hockey last year playing for the Québec Remparts, his third QMJHL team.
