Marco Scandella, as was reported earlier today, had a hearing with the Department of Player Safety on Wednesday night for a check he delivered on the New York Islanders’ Brock Nelson in a game on Tuesday. The Department of Player Safety has suspended Scandella for two games, a loss of $11,021.50 in salary.
According to the Department of Player Safety, Scandella’s suspension is the result of Nelson’s head being the primary point of contact on an avoidable check and it also factors in that Scandella was disciplined just ten days before this hit for another illegal check to the head, that time to St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie.
In that incident Scandella was fined and not suspended.
