It was a rough week for the Minnesota Wild. They only played twice, scraping up one point in the standings with a 4-3 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Earlier in the week the Philadelphia Flyers handled them 5-2.
A few players did contribute offensively in both games. So, here are your Minnesota Wild Three Stars:
First Star: Jason Pominville
Jason Pominville had one assist against Philadelphia, before recording a goal and a helper against the Jets. He is thus dubbed Minnesota’s first star of the week.
Second Star: Marco Scandella
Marco Scandella found the twine against the Flyers, for his eighth goal of the year. And he registered the secondary assist on the Tomas Vanek third-period goal that forced overtime against the Jets. Minnesota’s second star of this past week now has three goals and two assists in his last five games.
Third Star: Jared Spurgeon
The primary assist on Vanek’s game-tying goal came from Jarek Spurgeon. Spurgeon had an assist in both games, and saw 29:41 time on ice against the Jets. He will be relied on heavily in the near future with fellow defenseman Jonas Brodin out of commission.
