Minnesota Wild to Play 2015 Pre-Season game in Saskatoon

The Minnesota Wild will take on the Edmonton Oilers in a pre-season tilt in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to kick of the 2015-2o16 season.

Already looking ahead to next season, the Minnesota Wild announced that they will pay a visit to Darcy Kuemper’s hometown of Saskatoon on September 26th, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. The pre-season match will also feature Taylor Hall and the Edmonton Oilers.

The game will be held at the 15,000 seat SaskTel Centre, home of the Western Hockey League’s Saskatoon Blades. The NHL is no stranger to the SaskTel Centre, which has hosted Pre-season games for the Edmonton Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, and Calgary Flames.

Scouts for the Minnesota Wild will undoubtedly spend a little extra time in Saskatoon and take a closer look at Ryan Graham, the speedy Blades forward who went undrafted in 2014 but earned a training camp invite from the Wild at the beginning of this season.

This will be the first visit for the Minnesota Wild to Saskatoon, the largest city in the mostly rural province north of Montana. The Wild has previously played several pre-season games at the Ralph Englestad Arena in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Saskatoon is about a 900 mile drive from the Twin Cites or a quick 2 and a half hour flight. Delta offers non-stop flights from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Saskatoon International Airport, if you’re interested in going.
