Playoff Odds

With a win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday the Wild saw a 1.661% bump in their probability of making the playoffs, moving them to 94.916%, according to HockeyStats.ca and Micah Blake McCurdy.

They’re now less than 1% behind the Vancouver Canucks in this rating system. Vancouver’s path is a little easier than the Wild’s since the top three teams in the Central Division are among the top four in the Western Conference, making it easier for Vancouver to get above the Wild Card line.

On Tuesday night the Wild’s odds can get a little boost by (in order of descending importance to the Wild) the New York Rangers beating the Los Angeles Kings and the Vancouver Canucks beating the Winnipeg Jets.

Here’s a look at how the playoff probabilities break down in the Western Conference.

It’s been a little while since we’ve taken a look at the Eastern Conference, so I’m going to drop that graph below, because things are getting interesting over there. Last night, the Ottawa Senators beat the San Jose Sharks and grabbed a wild card spot away from the Boston Bruins.

Note Florida’s dive since mid-January, as well as the meteoric rise of the Senators in recent weeks coinciding with a nosedive from the Bruins.
