After just one season of duty for the Minnesota Wild, Craig Leipold announced that General Manager Paul Fenton has been relieved of duty. We’ll analyze what ultimately led to his termination and what it means for the future of the Wild.

I heard of the news at 12:15 pm while eating at a taco shop in Uptown Minneapolis with some college friends. I was completely baffled by the move. Yes, he did not have a good first season, but to be terminated after one full season is quite bold. For those interested:

There are plenty of layers to this decision that can be discussed and debated about, and I’ll be addressing some of the first thoughts I had for why Fenton was fired and what is next for the position.
