Just recently, the NHL official Return to Play Schedule was released, and Ladies and Gentlemen: it rules. We also talk about other updates surrounding the Minnesota Wild.

With the news breaking that the NHLPA member vote rather easily passed the CBA meant several things. First, and perhaps more importantly, the NHL/NHLPA has Labor Peace for the first time in a long time. It’s rather exciting and includes the possibility of NHLers returning to the Olympics.

BUT, more exciting is that the NHL IS (probably- barring mass COVID outbreaks in NHL teams) RETURNING AUGUST 1ST. We were even given a schedule of how the games would look.

In the first nine days of hockey, there is the possibility of 52 hockey games. Even if every Play-In Series is a sweep, we still get 36 hockey games in those nine days which is great.

Michael Russo of The Athletic also retweeted this from the Vancouver Canucks Account:

9:30 PM on a Sunday is pretty brutal but during this Pandemic, I feel like we can find the time.

Here are other Key Dates surrounding the NHL

Pre-Training Camp Update

The Minnesota Wild PR department and Official Twitter Account published the Training Camp Roster earlier today with an interesting note on Greg Pateryn.

More from Gone Puck Wild

While listed on the Training Camp roster, Greg Pateryn currently has an asterisk next to him as he is currently on injured reserve dealing with an Upper Body Injury.

This is the second injury Greg Pateryn has sustained around training camp this year, the first being a sports hernia that had him miss about 1/3 of the regular season. Could be a common occurrence seen across the league after the restart. Potential for a lot of strained groins, muscles, sprains.

Some may claim that Greg Pateryn has contracted COVID-19, which is rather dangerous. We understand the NHL is consistently vague about the injuries players sustain while playing hockey, and that they could be doing something similar here.

It’s going to be Gone Puck Wild’s policy to let the team and league handle the news on the matter. We aren’t health experts, team doctors, or involved with the coaching or management of the team, so it isn’t our prerogative to make speculations or baseless guesses on the matter.

We also found out today that Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos has sustained a new lower-body injury

Again, let’s not jump to the worst conclusion. Stamkos sustained a lower-body injury back in February this season.

Wrap Up

Woof. That got heavy for a moment.

We’ll leave you with this cheerful video:
