Wild vs. Sens: Minnesota looks to get back on track in home matchup
The Minnesota Wild return to the Xcel Energy Center after a three-game road trip. Minnesota is coming off consecutive 4-1 losses to Seattle and Colorado and have dropped three of the past four games overall.
The Wild face an Ottawa team that is playing the second of back-to-back games. The Senators fell to previously winless Chicago on Monday night. The Senators have lost four of their past five games.
The matchup also is a Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night. It also is the first of two home games for the Wild this week. Minnesota travels to Pittsburgh on Saturday and returns to St. Paul on Sunday for a matchup with the New York Islanders.
The quote
“I feel I’m a goal scorer and if I don’t score goals in some games it’s getting a little bit in the head. But I feel like I’ve been long enough in the league to know that it can’t. Just have to stay with it, stick with it and be a good teammate.
“Sometimes for me it’s a good game just to have a good defensive game. It’s not always just being offensive. Of course I want to score every game but it’s not going to happen.”
—Minnesota Wild forward Kevin Fiala during a Monday media availability session.
Series history
The Wild are riding an eight-game winning streak against the Senators. This is the first matchup between the teams since the Wild rolled to a 7-2 win on Nov. 19, 2019, at the Xcel Energy Center. Minnesota has won five of its past six home matchups with Ottawa overall.
Lineups
The Wild will still be without one of their key defensemen on Tuesday.
