Another day, and more news for the Minnesota Wild. Michael Russo of The Athletic reported that the Wild have placed forward Victor Rask on waivers, the move would allow for the Wild to either assign him to the 6-man taxi squad or be assigned to the Iowa Wild while not being on the hook for his full cap hit.

The former 2nd round pick of the Hurricanes was acquired by the Wild back in 2019 for Nino Niederreiter in a move that was and still is often scrutinized as part of the horrible Paul Fenton era. Rask currently as 4 goals and 6 assists for 10 points in 21 games this season. In all, Victor Rask as suited up for 141 games for the Wild scoring 21 goals in total and 28 assists in his entire Minnesota Wild career.

With the Minnesota Wild having some goalies woes within the organization, a goalie signing was needed. With Cam Talbot injured and Andrew Hammond being recalled to back up Kaapo Kahkonen, goalie depth on the taxi squad and in Iowa is running thin. Not long after Michael Russo reported that the Wild were looking to sign a goalie, the Wild had announced that the team had signed Zane McIntyre.

McIntyre was signed to help fill the void as explained above. The 29 year old originally drafted in the 6th round of the 2010 draft by the Boston Bruins had a great colligate career at the University of North Dakota and broke in professionally with the Providence Bruins in 2015 – 2016. McIntyre has also seen NHL action back with the Boston Bruins in the 2016-2017 season appearing in 8 games posting an unsatisfying 3.97 Goals Against Average and .858 Save Percentage but has proven to be a very solid AHL goalie with having a record of 114-57-33 and 2.51 GAA & .910 SV% in his entirety in the AHL .
