3. 98. 2. 95. Final

On what was intended to be a night of celebration  for the New York Rangers (28-13-4), the red-hot Minnesota Wild (26-10-3) stormed into Madison Square Garden and pulled ut a 3-2 nail-biter after a late period goal was waved off.

Starting off the secondperiod down 2-0, the Wild quickly found their game and flipped the narrative. Tossing in two quick goals in the period by Kevin Fiala and homecoming king Mats Zuccarello brought the momentum that twas in desperate need of.

And let me tell ya, when Zuccs notched his 13th goal of the season, you could hear cheers of joy throughout the Garden for the former Ranger. Also, a little “in your face” moment to Mats former teammate and close friend, Henrik Lundqvist, who had his jersey retired in a pregame ceremony.

With two of the hottest teams in the NHL facing off, it was quite the battle, but, thankfully, the extended a point streak to eight games (7-0-1) with a  third period goal by Freddy Gaudreau.

Also worth noting that Fiala, Kirill Kaprizov, AND Zuccs all extended their point streaks to 11 games, Matt Boldy snagged yet another assist adding to his eight points in nine career NHL games, and the return of Cam Talbot and Jonas Brodin did not disappoint.

On this team, it doesn’t matter how long a player has played in the league. What matters is how well the chemistry is working and how all of these players push each other to the best of their abilities.

This organization, top to bottom, continues to show the league what the State of Hockey is all about, and that’s not going to change.

The Wild hopes to continue their impressive play Sunday against former assistant captain Zach Parise and the New York Islanders (15-15-6).

With the puck drop set for 6:30 p.m.  CT, it promises to be another fun night in NYC!
