The Minnesota Wild didn’t play the best game of the season against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night,  but it was one of the grittiest.

Michael Russo of The Athletic noted, the Wild became just the third team in league history to rally from a goal-deficit four times and get the win twice in a season. The Wild also accomplished that feat in a 6-5 overtime win against Winnipeg on Oct. 19.

True, it came against one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference but, hey — it’s a win the Wild needed.

It snapped a four-game skid, and now the Wild will attempt to build off it.

“We thought we played good but it was a grind in spurts,” Wild coach Dean Evason said during his postgame media availability session. “The positive thing is that we did grind continually … and we were fortunate to get it done. We thought we were really good in a lot of areas of the game, but we weren’t so good in a lot of areas of the game. We just had to keep going and stay together, which was a real key point.

Minnesota now heads into Buffalo on Friday night to close out a back-to-back East Coast road trip. It is also the second matchup of the season against the Sabres.  Buffalo beat Minnesota 3-2 in a shootout on Dec. 16 at the Xcel Energy Center..

The Wild have won 10 of 13 games in Buffalo in the series history, and the Wild are also 11-4-4 in the last 19 matchups between the teams.

After Friday, Minnesota has just two more road games for the month and they come on consecutive nights — March 10 and 11 at Detroit and Columbus, respectively.
