So the Minnesota Wild are still in the midst of a slump.

That was apparent after an ugly, ugly end of a road matchup in Buffalo on Friday night. But there has been little time to dwell on that performance. Minnesota hosts Dallas on Sunday afternoon in a key matchup for the Central Division but also the Western Conference playoff picture

Minnesota is currently in third place in the division standings with 67 points, and if the playoffs began, would face St. Louis in a first-round matchup. Dallas is just two points behind Minnesota and has the second, and last, wild card position currently.

After Sunday, Minnesota and Dallas will have 28 and 27 games left in the season, respectively. Given that, it’s too early to call it a must-win game for the Wild — who are just three points behind the Blues. But for a team mindset, a  solid performance in all areas against the Stars could kickstart what could be an interesting March for the team.

“We’re not lumping everything together. We’re going one game at a time,” Wild coach Dean Evason said of the team’s slump his postgame media availability on Friday. “Obviously we grinded (Thursday) night (against Philadelphia) and we played  a lot of good hockey in (Friday’s) game. We played hard and in a lot of the areas we played right. We will take a lot of positives from this one.”

The Wild could get a boost on the defensive pairings as Michael Russo of The Athletic tweeted that Matt Dumba could be in the lineup after missing 10 games with a lower-body injury.
