Down but not out is the mentality the Minnesota Wild need to carry into Game 4 on Saturday, otherwise they're going to be facing win-or-go-home scenarios the rest of the way. That all seems more gloom-and-doom than the situation really presents, but after 15 years of first-round exits, Wild fans can't be blamed for being a little anxious.
The vibes aren't exactly great in Minnesota right now, but things are hardly off the rails. While the Wild lost a heartbreaker in double overtime on Wednesday, they're just a win away from evening the series with Dallas.
If that's going to happen, then some things that have gone awry so far will need to change.

The Wild's usually lethal power play has completely fallen asleep at the worst possible time. Minnesota is 1-for-12 over the last two games on the power play, and it's starting to feel like that lone goal was an accident at this point.
Part of the problem is that Mats Zuccarello has been out ever since taking an elbow to the head back in Game 1. His absence has been glaring on special teams, especially when it comes to how little Kirill Kaprizov has been able to do.
Having your entire power play hinge on the health of a 38-year-old isn't exactly a winning strategy, and Zuccarello being out isn't an excuse for how bad things have been. The Wild had five power play opportunities over the third period and both overtimes -- where they controlled the puck mostly the entire time -- and came away empty.
That simply cannot continue otherwise it's going to be yet another disappointing early playoff exit for the Wild.
