For the first time in 11 years, the Minnesota Wild have advanced past the first round. They had a tough path this year, as they were essentially locked in to face the rival Dallas Stars in the first round. It was far from an easy series, but the Wild were able to end the series in six gamews.

On Thursday night, the Wild defeated the Stars 5-2 to officially advance to the second round. Quinn Hughes put up three points iin the victory, while Matt Boldy cored two empty net goals late in the third period as the Stars attempted to tie the game with a skater advantage.

Wild fans heard the call on the TNT broadcast. Now take a listen to the local radio call on KFAN1003 from Joe O'Donnell and Tom Reid. When the buzzer rang out once the game was finalized, Reid said it best — "Colorado here we come!"

"They'e done it. The Minnesota Wild, for the first since 2015, are headed to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs," said O'Donnell. "They beat the Stars for the first time in their franchise history in a playoff scenario, winning this one in six games. Breaking a tie in the third and winning this hockey 5-2 in Grand Casino Arena."

The Wild had to overcome a lot during this playoff series. There was the Mats Zuccarello injury, who had taken a hit to the head in Game 1, sidelining him until Game 5. Not to mention, the Stars were dominant on the power play, going 10-for-25 with the extra skater advantage. But the Wild persevered.

The Wild will now take on the Avalanche, who sat in first place throughout the majority of this season. Minnesota's path to the Stanley Cup Final was always going to be a difficult one. They had to get through the Stars to likely take on the Avalanche to even get a chance to compete in the Western Conference Final.

Regardless of how the season ends for the Wild, they will always have this moment.
