Here are your Minnesota Wild GIFs of the game from Saturday’s 4-3 shootout win over the Arizona Coyotes. Take a look at Alex’s game wrap to get a full recap of Saturday’s game.
The Wild opened the scoring on the power play, with Thomas Vanek making a nice feed from the corner to Ryan Suter at the point. Nino Niederreiter tips it past Devan Dubnyk for his team-leading 13th goal of the season.
The Coyotes answered back just over a minute later, also on the power play. Some nice passing around the perimeter from Mikkel Boedker and Antoine Vermette leads to Oliver Ekman-Larsson besting Niklas Backstrom to even the game out.
After a goal from that same trio early in the third (Vermette from Boedker and Ekman-Larsson), Jason Zucker gets a breakaway just after the 13-minute mark of the second. He draws a penalty on the break, but that penalty won’t be served because he buries it behind Dubnyk to make it 2-2. Assists to Jason Pominville and Mikko Koivu on that one.
With 28 seconds left in the second, Lauri Korpikoski would score his third of the year, putting the Coyotes up 3-2.
Then with six minutes left in the game, Zach Parise puts one in on the power play to send the game to overtime after a very nice pass from Pominville.
Overtime wouldn’t resolve it, so the game moved onto everyone’s favorite skills competition.
On Boedker, Backstrom went for the poke check and missed, but still managed to make the save. Boedker got his own rebound and put it in the net for bonus points, because why not.
Parise started things off for the Wild with a pretty simple goal. (Video because, just because.)
Vermette grabbed the only goal the Coyotes would score on three attempts against Backstrom.
Koivu did what Koivu does, with a slightly different angle of approach, which was enough to convince Dubnyk that he wasn’t going to do the exact thing he does every time and what he attempted to do on Dubnyk during the overtime period. Result: Goal.
Thanks as ever to @myregularface for the GIFs.
