The Minnesota Wild have recently announced that they’re looking to switch up their goal song; maybe this is part of new General Manager Paul Fenton‘s remit?

We spoke at length about the Minnesota Wild’s goal song recently, and how it doesn’t exactly create a buzzing atmosphere within the arena.

The goal song needs to be all about that; it needs to get the fans pumped so they can get the building rocking, which in turn should amp up the Minnesota Wild players!

The passing of music legend Prince saw the team shift away from ‘Crowd Chant’ by Joe Satriani to ‘Let’s Go Crazy’ by Prince.

The latest move towards a new song will be chosen by the Minnesota Wild fan-base, after they made the decision on the change to occur in a recent survey.

Per The Athletic (subscription required), the two choices they’ll have are; the original ‘Crowd Chant’ by Joe Satriani or ‘Glass House’ by Kaleo.

Whilst a goal song isn’t going to change whether the team makes play-offs or not, the right choice will set a positive atmosphere within the arena and as stated prior, amp up the players suitably.

It could be the difference-maker in scoring a goal and that relaxing a little too much to allow one or scoring a goal, getting straight back out there and maintaining the momentum.

Thankfully, given it’s a survey, the Minnesota Wild have chosen to put the decision in the hands of their season-ticket holders.

We’ve all seen what happens when these sort of choices become an open-forum on the Internet. If we’d have opened it to everyone; there’s a good chance we’d have ended up with Britney Spears or One Direction, such are the efforts of Internet trolls.

The NHL is most definitely not immune to them; remember that John Scott will forever be able to claim the title of an NHL All-Star, courtesy of the power of a large group of people being given unlimited decision-making ability.

I trust that the season-ticket holders will pick something suitable and sensible; after all they will be hearing it week-in, week-out.

It’ll be interesting to see what exactly they pick as the Minnesota Wild’s new goal song!
