Minnesota Wild vs. Anaheim: Game preview, streaming, roster, more
The Minnesota Wild opens regular-season play on the West Coast for the second straight year.
Minnesota, which posted a 2-3 record in the preseason, heads into the Honda Center to face a Ducks team that opened with a 4-1 home win over Winnipeg on Wednesday. Mason McTavish, 18, who was selected third overall in this summer’s NHL Entry Draft, scored 13 minutes, 20 seconds into the first period to become the youngest player in franchise history to register a goal.
Anaheim finished 17-30-9 last season and missed the playoffs for the third straight year.
The Wild posted a 35-16-5 mark in 2020-21, which included a 14-11-3 road record. Minnesota has qualified for the playoffs in eight of the last nine years, including last year.

The Wild have a 38-31-7 all-time record against the Ducks, and are 19-19-1 in Anaheim in that stretch. Minnesota is 9-1-1 in the last 11 games against Anaheim and won the last seven games in eight meetings in 2020-21. Kirill Kaprizov led the Wild with eight points against the Ducks last year, and both Jared Spurgeon and Mats Zuccarello added six points.
