Wild vs. Coyotes: Kaapo Kahkonen will make second straight start in net
Kaapo Kähkönen will get his second straight start in goal as the Minnesota Wild begin a three-game road trip on Tuesday night in Glendale, Arizona.
The second-year goalie made 19 saves in the Wild’s 5-2 win over the New York Islanders on Sunday, and has a 3.63 goals against average in two starts this season.
Kähkönen went 2-0 against the Coyotes last season with a .982 saves percentage.
The Wild, who sit in second place in the NHL Central Division, will be seeking to extend a three-game winning streak and also end a three-game skid on the road. The Wild have 16 points, one behind the St. Louis Blues for the division lead. Both teams have played 11 games this season.
The matchup against the Coyotes is the first of back-to-back road games for Minnesota. The Wild travel to Las Vegas on Thursday for the first matchup with the Golden Knights since Game 7 of an opening-round playoff series last Spring. The road trip then ends with a return to Seattle for a second matchup with the Kraken this season.
Series history
Minnesota his 23-5-3 in its last 31 matchups with the Coyote, and posted a 7-1 record against Arizona last year. The Wild won the final six matchups in 2020-21.
Minnesota has won 12 of the last 16 games in Arizona, and 15-5-1 over the past 21 matchups there.
Lineups
It appears that Jordan Greenway is making his return from a lower-body injury he sustained in a game against Seattle on Oct. 28.
