Playoff Preview: The Minnesota Wild Look To Take Advantage Of Home Ice
Wild fans, it’s time. It’s time to lace up the skates, it’s time to go to work, and it’s time to bring Lord Stanley to the State of Hockey. It’s time for the Stanley Cup playoffs. After numerous records were broken, this team became the greatest in franchise history, boasting an incredible 53-22-7 record with 113 points. The Minnesota Wild will aim to take advantage of home ice where they’ll face off in round one against the St. Louis Blues tonight.
With what was feared to be a season-ending injury to Marcus Foligno, who finished the season with 42 points, Friday night against the melting Colorado Avalanche and some uncertainty as to whether or not Mats Zuccarello, who finished with 79 points, would get the okay to suit up for game one. It would appear that a miracle has hit St. Paul as both were seen on the ice yesterday for one last practice. For something that hasn’t gone the team’s way in years, we look to be 100% for tonight’s matchup.
The energy right now surrounding this team is truly one that I don’t ever recall experiencing in all my years as a Minnesota Wild fan. Top to bottom there are things brewing, whether it be Kirill Kaprizov, Kevin Fiala, Ryan Hartman, or Matt Boldy, you name it! The DEPTH on this team has been something the league has seen all year round. Which is why I’m optimistic knowing that it’s only going to shine more come Monday night and beyond.
Friends, this year is different. This year is the year where we make the push and prove to the league once and for all that there is no better state than the State of Hockey, the land of 10,000 lakes, the land of outdoor rinks, and the land of the Minnesota Wild.
