For the first time in a decade, the Minnesota Wild could reach the second round of the NHL Playoffs. A win in Game 6 aginst the Stars is all that stands in the way of the Wild ending one of the most miserable streaks in sports, but the road won't be an easy one.
If good omens are what we're looking for, then the fact that TNT will have the broadcast is a nice start. Rather than sit through the inferior ESPN broadcast, Wild fans can tune into either TNT, TruTV, or stream the game on HBO Max and get all of the nice bells-and-whistles that come with that brodacst.
As for what happens on the ice, that's the reason we're all tuning in -- and a little nervous.

While it's never easy to win in the playoffs, Minnesota's path to the second round is relatively simple. Beyond just winning one of the last two games left, if the Wild can stay out of the penalty box then the numbers suggest they should win.
Dallas has scored a total of 13 goals this series but 9 of those have come on the power play, or with a man-advantage of some sort. Simply put, the Stars can't hang with the Wild when it's 5-on-5 as Dallas hasn't scored with even ice in over 200 minutes of game time heading into Game 6.
That's an outrageously heavy thumb on the scale for Minnesota, yet the Wild can't stop drawing penalties and using their advantage. Things can change and teams can adjust, but nothing suggests the Stars will be able to keep up with the Wild unless they get bailed out.
Getting Mats Zuccarello back in Game 5 was a huge boost to Minnesota's own power play, which had been abysmal all series. Outside of the first game, the Wild have been dead with a man advantage which was due in large part to Zuccarello being out. He took a cheap shot to the head in Game 1 and his absence was felt.
The Wild are at mostly full strength, though, with Yakov Trenin returning as well and adding some muscle on the ice. Minnesota should win this series, but fans know all too well how much easier said that is than done.
