For most of Game 4 the Minnesota Wild looked like the sort of tired and beatdown team that limps out of the playoffs early. The Stars were pushing the Wild around and sucking the life out of fans in St. Paul until Matt Boldy flipped the switch on both the game and potentially the entire series.
After an overtime goal was disallowed over an illegal kicking motion, Matt Boldy put one in the back of the net that couldn't get taken off the board. It's a goal that not only evens the series and shortens it to a best-of-three, but also injects new life into a Wild team that badly needed a spark.
As if the goal itself wasn't already amazing, the slow-motion replay and alternate angles make it even more epic.
The game-winning goal from Matt Boldy is even more incredible when you see it again in slow-motion.

Boldy's goal ended a 24-game streak of teams winning games after scoring first. Even after reclaiming the lead at the end of the second peiod, Dallas was unable to hold off a surging Minnesota attack and it's energy that should vibrate beyond Game 4.
Minnesota still has major issues it needs to figure out on special teams, where it once again came up short. The Wild are now 1-for-16 on power plays over the last three games, while the penalty kill has allowed seven goals over Dallas' last fifteen chances since Game 2.
Letting the Stars score at a nearly 50 percent clip with a man advantage is a good way to lose a series, which is why Minnesota getting a win on Saturday was so massive. Beyond the obvious of evening up the series, the Wild showed the kind of fight late in Game 4 that was seemingly lacking early on, which was reminicent of the lame energy that has resulted in a decade of early playoff exits.
The road is still tough, as the Wild need two more wins with only one more home game left in the series. Punching back at Dallas after a heartbreaking loss in Game 3 is exactly the reponse the team needed, and Boldy's goal should create the sort of momentum a team that seriously wants to win this series will ride into another strong performance in a few days.
