On Sunday the Iowa Wild signed defenseman Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel to a professional tryout contract (PTO).
Dieude-Fauvel’s recall has likely has a lot to do with defenseman Steve McCarthy getting injured early in Saturday’s loss to the Charlotte Checkers. McCarthy won’t play in Sunday’s rematch against the Checkers and Dieude-Fauvel is expected to suit up in his stead.

It was only a little over a week ago that the Wild released Dieude-Fauvel back to the Quad City Mallards where he played five games before the Mallards bus dropped him in Des Moines last night on their way through the area, according to Joe O’Donnell on KXNO.
Dieude-Fauvel played 15 games with Iowa early in the season, scoring one assist, a minus-3 rating, and ten shots.
In 27 games with the playoff-bound Quad City Mallards this season, Dieude-Fauvel has four goals, five assists, a plus-1 rating, 40 penalty minutes, and 43 shots. He’ll join rookie defenseman Nicholas Rioux as one of two Mallards defensemen currently up playing with Iowa.
The Wild signed McCarthy to a PTO in late February after he’d played three games with the Springfield Falcons this season. McCarthy has played six games with Iowa this season, putting up one goal, one assist, and a plus-3 rating with Iowa.
Other players out of the lineup with injuries include defensemen Alex Gudbranson, Guillaume Gelinas, Gustav Olofsson (who is getting close to making his season debut), and Brad Richard, forwards Jason Gregoire, Joel Rechlicz, Ruslan Fedotenko (though he did take warm-ups on Sunday, but doesn’t look like he’ll play in Sunday’s game), and Raphael Bussieres, and goaltender Josh Harding.
Iowa plays in Des Moines against the Charlotte Checkers in a re-match of Saturday’s loss at 3pm central time on Sunday. You can listen to a broadcast of the game through KXNO on I Heart Radio.
